These books are a great resource for teaching students in grades 3-5 about bullying, how to be a good friend, how to manage conflict, and how to handle rumors. These are all things many boys at my school struggle with and could benefit from learning how to navigate these issues. Using books helps make the material more relatable to the students because the characters in the books are similar to them. Teaching these lessons to these students will greatly help reduce the number of problems at recess and other unstructured times because it will teach students how to behave responsibly when teachers and other adults are not watching. It will give them skills to navigate conflicts themselves instead of having to get adults involved, which is a necessary skill to be an upstanding citizen of the world.
