These materials will make a huge difference in our lessons because students need items like pencils, paper, and notebooks to write with. Oftentimes, in our community, families can not afford to get all of the supplies and need support from the school. The spiral notebook will be particularly helpful for all writing practice activities. The more supplies we have, we can also accommodate home learners since we are now teaching in mixed mode. I currently use the whiteboards for small group students who need phonemic awareness support, but we will have to throw them out by the end of the year because of damage or dried markers. We are often short on supplies, but like most school communities, teachers and parents chip in where needed, but DonorsChoose gives us an opportunity to include a larger community to help us with basic classroom supplies. When teachers and students are prepared with materials, it makes the learning experience better.
