We would love to provide a way for our little scholars to wash their hands in the classroom. Currently, we share bathrooms with grades pre-k through 7th and the sinks are too tall and the bathrooms too crowded for us to monitor adequate, consistent hand-washing for eighteen preschoolers. Our program also requires students to engage in toothbrushing (in non-pandemic times), which is very difficult to perform without a sink close at hand. A large part of our learning is conducted through experiential play. Students explore with paint, sand, ink pads, glue, etc. We currently share a bathroom with our entire school and many times resort to baby wipes or hand sanitizer. During the pandemic we've used a lot of sanitizer, which is not as effective as hand-washing, and can be harsh on children's skin. As plumbing our room for a sink would be far too expensive, a portable sink would be a more affordable option. It would be a convenient, accessible way to keep our children safe, healthy, and clean.
