Teaching virtually has come with a lot of changes and challenges for both teachers and students. How can a teacher be effective using technology if the technology she uses is not up to date? I currently am not able to stay in google meets, share presentations, or even see my students without having to sign out and back in at least once or twice a day. I would use the laptop as my computer to teach my students virtually. This laptop will help my students watch videos without freezing or lagging while sharing my screen. I will be able to present and use virtual resources with confidence that my students will be able to see and participate in during the live lesson. Kindergarten students rely heavily on visuals. The document camera will allow me to model work in real time and review independent work with the students. We are returning to a hybrid schedule in April. I plan to bring this portable document camera back and forth so I can use it when teaching from home, and teaching in the classroom. Document cameras give students the ability to see an object or text clearly from anywhere in the classroom (in person or virtually), which is important for comprehension and understanding. Finally, Kindergarten students have a hard time using some internet programs. We make many copies and packets, that require a lot of paper, that students pick up. This allows students to practice holding pencils, markers, and crayons to write, draw or color. They are also able to interact with cut and paste activities. I can not stress the importance of using worksheets in this virtual setting. Kindergarteners need to have the ability to practice their fine motor skills. This means they NEED paper worksheets.
