As a Title I school our students come from a diverse home life with varying access to books. This listening library will give students a chance to engage more with literacy and enhance word vocabulary. Experts say that young children that hear at least 21,000 words a day are more likely to be successful later in life. This listening library will bridge the socioeconomic gap between the students that are not being read to or do not have access to books. This listening center and audiobooks will improve letter recognition which is the bias for reading skills that are a key to a student's academic success.
