Because my students have unique learning needs, it is important for me to create a classroom environment that supports them, helps them grow, and is comfortable and safe. As a new teacher, I am starting fresh and gathering classroom materials to help my students succeed! I chose materials that will provide flexible seating options, opportunities for movement, and emphasize a growth mindset - all of which are key for my students to succeed. Examples of flexible seating materials I chose include wobble cushions, portable lap desks, a bean bag, and carpet dots. These allow students to have choices for their seating and maximize learning and comfort. I also selected classroom posters and books that focus on positivity and a growth mindset, which is important for kids with emotional disabilities. I want the materials in my classroom to reflect my desire to support all students. With these materials, I hope to build a strong community of learners that respects their individual strengths and challenges.
