Students of color deserve libraries rich with stories and characters that are reflective of them. This project would provide students with literature that mirrors the diverse population of our school's culture and community. Stories that depict struggle, resilience, and perseverance have been carefully chosen to resonate with the students in a way that allows them to feel seen and celebrated for their differences. Exposure and access to socially relevant literature creates an opportunity for our students to engage in rich conversations, as well as serves to build empathy with each other in a way that honors differences and builds community.
