I want my students to have access to books with characters they can see themselves in. These books will not only help my students feel seen, but it will also allow more of my students to discover a love of reading. These books will be available for students to bring home and read individually as well as utilized in the classroom in literature circles to be discussed in small groups. When students feel like they can relate to what they are reading, they are more engaged and are more likely to read more. I aspire to cultivate an environment where students not only read, but want to read, and providing a diverse, enriching library selection will help me reach this goal.

About my class
