Students come to the music room once every week for about 30 minutes as part of their grade level Enrichment rotation. We learn many different topics in music and one I have been trying to stress lately is Instruments and Instrument families. I want to get my students excited about instruments so they proceed to 6th grade and do band. I think Ukuleles will be a fun way to talk about the string family and get them interested in learning music. The Ukuleles listed are plastic so with the COVID virus around right now I will be able to clean the Ukuleles in between classes very easily and for years to come. Instruments are not very cheap but once you have them they can last for years as long as you take care of them. My students would LOVE the opportunity to learn something new and exciting. When my students learn how to play recorder or another instrument they always feel proud and constantly want to share. The younger grades have something they look forward to and want to learn. Music is a great way to express feelings and help us feel calm. I just want to give my students the tools to help with their social and emotional well-being.
