These ukeleles will mean so much to so many of my students this year and the next. Music allows students to foster their creativity, and the use of instruments in class fosters their real-world application of music theory learned in class. In this COVID-19 world, a lot of my students are now dealing with anxiety and stress in a different way than they have encountered before, but music allows them to escape this, if only for 40 minutes. This ukulele project will not only allow them to experience a new instrument that they have never played before, but it will also allow them to channel their emotions into playing and having fun.
