There are infinite benefits of painting for students. For the younger ones, it helps develop their hand-eye coordination as they learn to paint the parts they see. For this, they need to make sure their hand movements are aligned with their vision. It also helps their creative development, which stimulates their brain. Most children (including the older ones) enjoy getting messy and freely expressing themselves as they develop their creativity. Responding to books takes on a whole new dimension when painting is involved. How exciting it would be for them to read a book and then draw a picture and paint the setting, characters, etc. They could write a summary of their artwork and share it with the rest of the class. These are just some of the reasons why I am hoping to get water coloring kits and Crayola watercolor paper for my kids. We cannot forget the parents/guardians either. They all love getting keep-sakes to hang on their walls.
