Science is a difficult subject for my bilingual 8th-Grade students. There are many challenging vocab words that are students struggle to translate. In addition, science has lots of complex concepts that students struggle to visualize. One major learning standard for our 8th Grade standards is Newton's Laws of Motion. To help students understand Newton's Laws, we want to participate in a rocket launching project. This project will allow students to design, create, and launch their own bottle rockets - all while investigating the different complexities of forces and motion! Not only does this project help students with science, but it also integrates art and math standards. While designing their rockets, students will connect with many art principles. Additionally, students will be able to graph the motion of the rockets and calculate the speed, force, and slope of their design.
