My project is based on students reading about characters who have learning struggles just like they do. Research is showing that when we don't feel alone in our struggles we have the mental health to overcome them positively. My goal is that these books will help my students see that they are not alone and they too can overcome their learning struggles just like the characters in the book. The books I have selected range in elementary age groups from young students (ages 5-7) to older elementary students (8-11) along with a few books to help parents with this journey. In our dyslexia lessons, daily I read a book aloud for them to hear fluent reading. These books selected will serve that purpose, along with them making personal connections to the characters.
