The student population I work with has significant social emotional needs and oftentimes has difficulty regulating their emotions when they are feeling overwhelmed. My goal is to create a responsive learning environment that meets my students' needs so that they are able to feel safe and successful in the classroom. I am requesting fidgets and other sensory tools to help them. These items will meet my students' sensory needs so that they are able to keep themselves regulated and and focused. These items will also help me create a calming corner within the classroom that students can use when they are feeling strong emotions. My students are working hard on making good choices and strengthening their coping skills, and these items will help them make progress on these goals. In addition, these items will play a huge role in helping my students remain or re-enter the learning environment.
