I am a special education teacher to students in an urban school district. It’s hard to keep the attention of my students on the best of days. During virtual, and now concurrent teaching, it’s been a struggle to keep up with their needs and attention with an out-of-date laptop. Having a laptop that’s up-to-date will maximize instructional time since we won’t have to wait forever for materials to load. It’s frustrating to tell them they can’t view a video or resource because it just won’t load. It’s hard to tell them that we need to turn off our cameras in order to gain a little bit more power to share a document camera. It will also afford me the opportunity to bring entertaining and educational resources to their fingertips. Their education is being impacted by the out-of-date technology we’ve been afforded.
