Emotional regulation is important for students to navigate through situations in life and to understand and manage their emotions. The majority of the students in my school were forced to flee their countries in search of a safer place to raise their children. Many of these students were not taught about their emotions and how to deal with them properly. My job as the school counselor is to teach students how to effectively manage and respond to an emotional experience. The books, sensory paths, and fidget toys will help immensely when I am working with students on emotional regulation strategies.
