Learning about community, advocacy, and problem-solving in 2nd grade meets Colorado Department of Education social studies standards. My school does not have a social studies curriculum. The funding for this project will help immensely to further my student's learning and support both 2nd-grade classes at my school. It will ensure a well-balanced educational experience combining reading, writing, and social studies. Additionally, it will support my teammate and me in designing engaging lessons. This program will support our students in continuing to develop their understanding of our character habits, which they are already passionate about. Diving into characteristics of community will promote their deeper understanding of how compassion, integrity, advocacy, accountability, and perseverance are intertwined with all of our actions. Thank you for your support to provide a deeper learning experience for our students!
