While many of these students have little to no computer or internet access outside of the school, they are thrilled and anxious to learn more about how to manipulate any technology put at their fingertips. They, even at such a young age, manipulate and understand the technical purpose of websites, wikis, and blogs. As a teacher, I try to expose and use this cutting edge technology to bring the curriculum to life. Since the students have limited resources outside of school, however, I try to provide access to as many entertaining, and free, online versions of activities to fuel their desire to take their learning into their own hands. Now that I have shown them how to use MovieMaker, PhotoStory, avatars, screencasts, as well as other online presentation tools, such as Mixbook, Prezi, and Slideshare, the students’ desire to engage in the next step of their technological education is overwhelming!
