Teaching from home has been challenging for most teachers. I have learned more technology skills this year than I had in my previous 25 years put together. The new skills I have acquired have made me a better teacher. My new skills will be helpful even when I return to in-class instruction. The new technology skills I have acquired will help me prepare the future innovators who are sitting in my class this year and those who are yet to come. When teaching math to students participating in distance learning, I need several monitors to provide quality instruction. I need one monitor to present the lesson and I need another monitor to see student work, especially math work which requires being able to see problem solving steps. Students need guidance in order to persevere through challenging math tasks. Two monitors will help me guide and motivate my students to stay focused and conquer their challenges.
