These slinkies will help further engage my students and their curiosity by allowing them to physically see energy waves through an object. This is a two for one deal. Since we are also able to use these for our non-readers to help with sounds and decoding words. With the addition of these materials for my classroom, each student will be able to manipulate their own slinky in order to model wave motion. Modeling is a key skill for students to develop during their study of earth science concepts. Not to mention, the use of fun and engaging manipulatives can inspire a life-long interest in science.
