Middle school students are very self conscious. Their social identity and feelings play huge roles in their moods and readiness to learn when they report to campus. Sadly, many of my students won't return to school simply because their parents can't afford uniforms. My district also only offers one free uniform. That means that many of my underserved students wear one (often unwashed) uniform everyday of the week. A new uniform will restore my students' dignity and confidence and help them concentrate on learning. The pandemic has caused enough gaps and delays in my students learning. The economic fall out has hit my school community hard and left students struggling with the lack of a school supply many people don't think about...clean uniforms that fit.
