Please help me continue to offer my students the ability to learn proper fishing techniques by giving them the basic gear they require to fish successfully. For the past 10 years, I’ve developed and taught an outdoor education class with little to no budget. The majority of equipment used in the class has been purchased using my own funds. Fishing has many benefits, which include keeping fit, improving concentration, reducing stress, and teaching conservation and survival skills, to name a few. With the equipment included in this project, the students of my class will have the ability to work on their fishing skills using a variety of lures, baits, and techniques. Our school is nestled amidst numerous county and state preserves and parks. In addition, our town is known as the “Island City” due to the river that runs through the middle of town. There is a variety of areas available for the students to use the skills learned in class. Fishing has always been one of my favorite outdoor activities and I love being able to pass down my knowledge to my students. In today's world, it is of the utmost importance for children to get outside, breathe in the fresh air, enjoy nature, and unplug-at least for a little while!
