The Finnish saying, "All of life is for learning," summarizes my philosophy that learning happens in a context. Students learn by doing. I will help facilitate the connections, but hopefully these tools will help them be active learners. The field notebooks fit in a pocket to jot down ideas. In the past, I have had students measuring vehicles with tape measures and then using scale factor. Students can make musical instruments with the hand tools and found objects. As the year goes on and the middle school teachers team up to create thematic units, the sky is the limit.
