Hello! I teach in a smaller, rural school district and I would like to create a welcoming, energetic environment for students as they return to school this year. Our school hallway is almost institutional in its appearance, stark white walls with red lockers. Students cannot decorate lockers, so the hallway is a very barren, dull lifeless place. Since the pandemic, I have noticed a decrease in student interest, so I am trying to find various ways to pique their interests and motivation. For this project, I would like to install fluorescent light screens to give some visual interest to the space, as well as apply some wall decals spreading positive messages, as well as inspiration and appreciation for various school subjects in order to help students become more excited about learning. I started some decorating last year out of my own pocket, but this hallway has 7 classrooms with spaces above each room, so it would be a long time before I could completely fund and finish this project on my own. I received positive feedback from admin, peers, and students for my efforts, so I would like to continue!! Thank you for any support!!
