This club focuses on more than just running. It will give the girls opportunities for friendships and team building. COVID-19 safety procedure will be in place and training will take place in the school gym and later on we will practice outdoors, weather permitting. The coaches will guide the girls through lessons and running activities with the goal of building the girls’ social skills, confidence and self-esteem. Majority of the families at my school are low-income. To make sure we have a successful running season we need some running gear for the girls participating. We would like for the girls to receive small backpacks, practice t-shirts, running socks, workout sweatbands, healthy snacks, and special supplies for the 5K run in May. In preparation for the 5K the girls will work together to design a colorful costume they will wear for the run. At the end of the season the coaches will also be hosting a banquet where the girls will be recognized for their efforts. The girls will receive a medal, jump rope, and book. Help us make this dream possible for the girls. They will build healthy bodies, friendships, and self-esteem through this program.
