All students love to read at some point in their lives. Whether it's the comfort of crawling up on a parent's lap or the interesting pictures that get them started. The trick is to keep them loving to read. The Imagination Library sends age-appropriate books once a month to each student's house. The parents only need to give the student's name, birthday, and address to get them signed up. The rest is already done for them. What child doesn't love to get something with their name on it in the mail? Imagine their excitement when they realize it's a book about butterflies, frogs, or the bear who is hiding from them on each page. The Imagination Library facilitates a lifelong love of reading by putting a book in every child's hands. This program also makes it possible for our students to learn skills like left to right and top to bottom progression, rhyming, and phonological awareness skills, just to name a few. These earliest reading skills should be taught at home well before kindergarten.
