Fine motor skills for pre-kindergarten are required to accomplish a variety of activities including writing, artwork, and cutting with scissors. When children don’t have the muscle strength or coordination to do these activities, they struggle and become frustrated. This manual dexterity needs to be practiced and developed just like any other skill. The items requested in this grant will be used to make fine motor development boxes. The boxes will develop visual motor skills, hand strength, small muscle development, and eye-hand coordination. All of which develop a young child's ability to use an appropriate grasp for writing, using a variety of art mediums. These fine motor resources will also help children develop self-help skills such as buttoning, fastening, tying, and zipping.
