One of the most wonderful aspects of Kindergarten is the blossoming of young readers. The students are so excited to realize that they can actually pick up a book and find meaning in the pictures, letters and symbols they see! To become strong readers, students require opportunities for practice and skill building. Hands-on, colorful, and engaging activities hold the attention of young children. The materials I am requesting offer practice with letter sounds, word building, sentence structure, blends, digraphs, comprehension and fluency. This will reinforce what my students are learning in class and make them even stronger readers. Students will be able to use these independently, which works well with COVID19 restrictions. As our classrooms return to "normal", we will also be able to use these activities as centers for small groups and partner work.
