Each of these hands on materials can be used to reinforce concepts being taught daily. The math materials will allow children to problem solve on their own. Number lines, hundreds charts, and base ten blocks are crucial to teaching young learners about addition, subtraction and number sense. If given the opportunity to use a mobile easel and individual student wipe boards, they will be utilized during daily, hands on, direct lessons where I can follow an “I do, we do, you do” format. I hope to be able to engage all learners in a small group, individual, or whole group setting with these items. Letter tiles will help my struggling readers with phoneme/grapheme awareness and will be utilized in whole group study of weekly words, small group reinforcement and remediation, and independent practice during word work centers.
