I was recently told I will no longer be teaching just math and science but also reading and writing! With this exciting news in mind, my first priority is ensuring that my students are surrounded by BOOKS that will help them fall in love with reading! I very intentionally created a wish list to ensure my students were represented by the books they read, that the books sparked their interests, and that the books met their needs (social-emotional growth, dyslexia, etc). Research shows us how much an enriched classroom library can benefit the success rate of children- especially those of low socioeconomic standing. As time spent reading increases, so does student success! With this in mind, I know that each book added to the classroom is an investment into a young scholar's future.
