Books are a wonderful gift for students. They have the ability to get absorbed in a story and picture themselves as a character. Books give everyone a chance to travel somewhere that they otherwise would never know. Giving a book to a child can help build the determination that can take them where ever they dream. The student will gain a sense of ownership because the book is theirs. Not the library's, not the schools, but their own. I will give the students a book on their birthdays at the same time I make daily announcements and then sing them Happy Birthday.
