Half of my students are face-to-face. The other half of my students are virtual. My school generously gave me some classroom money, which I used to provide my in-person students with headsets so that all of my students could interact on Zoom, regardless of whether they are face-to-face or virtual. This helps to ensure that all of my students receive the same educational experience. However, since all of my lessons are done through Zoom, I have experienced some challenges that an extra screen would fix. For example, when I am sharing my screen for a lesson, I cannot see all of my virtual students. Also, if I open the chat while I am sharing my screen, all of my students can see what was written in the chat, even if it was a "direct message" meant only for me. For instance, one day last week a student sent me a direct message telling me that she had to leave because of a doctor's appointment. Sometimes students will answer a question, but will not want everyone else to see their response. If I had a second screen to have the Zoom features opened on, then my students and I could enjoy all of the engagement tools that Zoom offers even while I am sharing my screen.
