My students missed a vital portion of school due to COVID-19 - the spring of Kindergarten. Many students also spent first grade virtually or coming in and out of school due to quarantining guidelines and getting COVID. As a result, many students are below grade level academically as well as lacking some social skills. In our class, we are working on having grit, communicating what we need, and gaining empathy for one another. We are also working on getting their reading skills up to where they should be, so I would love to give them access to decodable readers and phonics games. I am so proud of how far these students have come and I can't wait to see how strong we finish the year!
