Teaching reading skills requires supplies, whether we are learning face to face or virtually. Students require individual supplies for learning reading strategies using a variety of texts. My students are learning how to find cause and effect, main ideas and details, and learn new vocabulary using postits and highlighters. Middle schoolers love rewards! In addition to learning how to improve reading comprehension skills, my students are reading books for pleasure outside of their required school reading. I want to give tangible rewards to rewards increased reading skills while we are learning distanced from each other.
