A lot of my students have not sat in a classroom nor been around their peers, in over a year. It will be a big adjustment getting them back in the classroom and keeping them on task. Hard chairs and desks just don't work. 5th graders need a little extra something to push them to do their best. I want to create a space for them where they can be comfortable, but still be able to focus on their work. I will be teaching ELA this year and students love getting new articles and books to read. They focus so much better when they can sit somewhere quietly around the room and get lost in a book.
