The foundational step of learning how to read and write is known as "phonemic awareness". This means that kiddos learn how words are made up of sounds as they learn to put together and take apart those sounds. These skills can make or break a child's reading and writing ability. It is so crucial for students to be able to clearly hear these sounds to gain phonemic awareness. Having an additional speaker in the classroom would ensure that all students will gain that awareness, especially those tricky soft sounds, like with the letter H!
