So many life lessons are learned from books. Over the years, one of our favorite class novel units has been Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief. Students relate to Percy, the book's antagonist, who struggles with dyslexia and ADHA--like some of them! By providing students with their own books, the unit lessons transition seamlessly from home to school. Students learn how to annotate in the margins, circle unfamiliar vocabulary, and make connections with their own lives. Providing a high-quality reading experience at home is an advantage all students deserve. I am excited to watch our students begin their journey as life-long readers and anticipate the joy they will have when they receive their very own copy for their personal novel collection.
