I am excited for my students to return to the classroom in person. There are also some concerns. I have recently moved to 1st Grade from 5th Grade and have very little books appropriate for my students. My classroom is missing a quality library that allows students to choose grade level books they would like to read. This library would be used for not only independent reading but as well as guided practice. The majority of our student population are struggling readers and lack the resources at home. I want to provide an opportunity for my students to get their hands on a variety of appropriate texts to help them develop a love of reading.
