This rug will be helpful on a daily basis as we come together for carpet time for our daily literacy and math lessons. Having a rug with a space for each child is valuable, because it allows the opportunity for each child to have a clear boundary for their personal space. The expectation will be that all body parts must remain in their own square. With this expectation in place, I will allow students some flexibility in how they need to sit and adjust to continue focusing on our lesson. When we are not using the carpet for a whole group lesson, students will continue to use the rug for a flexible seating option during group work or as a comfortable space for independent reading.
