Our classroom is for intensive needs students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We are trying to provide fine and gross motor activities to our students to help improve academic and play skills. We are also teaching verbal skills to our students. Some children with ASD struggle to learn social and play skills on their own and need explicit instruction. Our team is working with our students to teach skills to students so they can excel academically and socially. Providing stimulating activities will help our students learn and grow. For example, we have been working on teaching turn taking through the use of the RolyPop game. The students love to watch the balls go down the ramp and have learned to take turns with the balls. Turn taking is a very important social skill.
