With a focus on reading and math in the classroom sometime science and social studies can slip the the cracks. Having these readers/magazines on hand will make it easier for me to slip some science and social studies activities in that students will enjoy. Independent reading is one of the most important activities students can engage in to make better sense of the world around them. By reading, students learn the vocabulary they need to effectively communicate their thoughts, ideas, hopes, and dreams to others and actively engage in their community. These materials will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy and with these magazines they will be learning too.
