This project will help my seated students gain real world knowledge of our mathematical content. It will give them a way to connect creativity to our math class. For example, in our Pre-AP class, my students designed their own food trucks, as well as researched costs. They used these costs to determine the unit price of each ingredient for their recipes. In order to determine unit price, they had to divide decimals and round to the nearest hundredths place for each price. When they finished, they got to design the truck and menu, and they built a model of their truck. Studies show that connecting arts and mathematics helps students solidify mathematical skills; that’s what this project is all about -- connecting real world projects with a creative outlet. These items will help my students create presentation materials for their project based learning assignments. Help me create a well-rounded, brain-friendly learning environment for my students.
