As an elementary school teacher, it is my job to encourage and support all readers. By having a library full of diverse books at varying reading levels, I'm able to meet all of my students. Children should see themselves in the stories they read. They need to relate to or aspire to be these characters, and the more diverse my library can be, the better I am at connecting students to reading. I believe reading can open a student's mind and empower them to achieve great things. I think that providing students with options and book choice will provide them with the tools to become life long readers.
