I read this book recently and really appreciated how it connected the world around us with human efforts at sustainability through the perspective of indigenous traditions. This book would bring a lively discussion to our classroom. Students will have the option of choosing between two books to read and share with the class. Braiding Sweetgrass will give students a nice option to The Good Rain by Timothy Eagan which is the book we currently use. One of the goals of the project is to give students some experience with the naturalist style of writing.

About my class
