We have these (3) projects that are ongoing at Tower's High School JROTC program year round. The garden project is so important with helping our students to learn how to grow their own food. It has taught the students about the importance of our ecosystem. Students are happy when they are outdoors getting fresh air and sunshine. Students are proud when the vegetables grow and we can donate them to people in the community who are in need. The Raiders program is a physical fitness program. As we stress to the students the importance of eating fresh fruit and vegetables, we model physical fitness as instructors. The students learn the benefits of physical activity and nutrition as one. Students participate in physical training after school 3 days a week and 1 day during the class week. Students self esteem is higher, they are mentally sharper, and physically look and feel better. We are teaching our students to adapt physical training as a lifestyle in the Raiders program. Last of all, we know that all of our students will not want to attend a 4 year college or technical school after high school. Some students will want to join the military. We need the ASVAB Prep program after school 2 days a week. Students need tutorial and healthy snacks. This will help students succeed on the ASVAB test and be able to enlist in the military.
