Girls Can’t Do What? The purpose of this project is to provide my young ladies with the experience of utilizing science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to create their own water park. Through project-based learning, my students will apply their knowledge and work as architects, mathematicians, and engineers to build a model of a waterpark using their own blueprint. This project maintains a high level of cognitive demand to provide my students with the opportunity to experience how math is used in the real world while introducing my young ladies to STEM careers. So, the next time they hear, “girls can’t do STEM,” they will remember that they can and they did in their 8th grade math class!
