A 3D printer will open up a whole new world for the students. The printer will be used to use making classroom models and tools, robot parts, and even toys for outreach to younger students. All of the students will get the chance to design projects and then have them printed at the school to see or pick up, and hopefully use in person. It's hard for students to see the need to move forward on virtual projects that they can't feel or experience, so the 3D printer adds design and print capabilities to their skills for motivation, challenge, and fun.
