In my classroom I have students who have IEPs in which they need tests read to them. I am only able to provide a few sets of working headphones to some of my students with IEPs, the rest have to sit separately and listen to their lessons/tests with the volume on low, which is distracting to other students and frustrating for the student having to do it. The students who do not need the headphones for listening to a story still use them to cancel out noise so that they can focus better. These headphones will really help students with concentration and help increase their scores due to less distractions. My students take a diagnostic test three times in a school year and a growth monitoring assessment every month, so there are many times that headphones are needed. After the students take their diagnostic, it sets them on a path that is just right for them. They each have their own individualized instruction and the headphones will help keep the students lessons to themselves instead of everyone in the class knowing what they are working on. One student may be working on shapes and another be working on fractions, and the headphones help keep the lessons private for that student.
