Almost all of my students have Autism and are nonverbal. This means that they use some form of technology to communicate and participate in and outside the classroom. iPads utilize a program titled Proloquo2Go which uses pictures to help students use words to participate in the classroom. Not only do they use iPads to communicate, they also use it for visual schedules. An app called ChoiceWorks allows students to have an interactive schedule of their day and then slide each activity off after they have completed. Some students are able to take their iPads home to communicate with their families as well!
