Hello, wonderful donors! Our 2nd grade team here at our amazing dual language, title 1 school are here to ask for something very, VERY, exciting, a pencil sharpener. We easily could have asked you for books, science supplies, a karaoke machine, games or something far more exciting. But honestly, us teachers are resourceful and are really great about finding items like that at garage sales or through online sites selling used items, or simply by asking for donation of those items. However, a GOOD pencil sharpener has to be bought brand new. I have never been able to afford a good pencil sharpener, but any veteran teachers tells us that our team should invest in one. The problem is, spending over $100 on a pencil sharpener wipes out more than half our annual budget which we need for a ton of things like covering costs of snacks, school supplies, science experiments, academic rewards, birthday baggies, books, etc. P.S. For a feel good moment, I threw in the fun finger puppets because our kids would LOVE those (they became huge puppet fans thanks to our weekly puppet shows during online learning).
